Former Virginia Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn Endorses James Walkinshaw: Joins Growing Coalition Urging VA-11 Voters to Send Him to Congress

Fairfax, VA – Today, former Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates Eileen Filler-Corn endorsed Fairfax County Supervisor James Walkinshaw for Congress, calling him the best-prepared candidate to succeed Congressman Gerry Connolly and take on Trump’s dangerous agenda in Virginia’s 11th District.

Filler-Corn, who made history as the first woman and Jewish Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates, emphasized her long-standing partnership with Walkinshaw and their shared record of delivering results for Northern Virginia families.

“I’ve known James Walkinshaw for years – not just as a colleague, but as a friend – and there’s no one better prepared to represent Virginia’s 11th District in Congress, and succeed our outstanding Congressman, Gerry Connolly,” said former Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn. “From my early days as Delegate to my time as Speaker of the Virginia House, James was a critical legislative partner in the historic progress we delivered for Fairfax County families. He’s steady, thoughtful, and deeply experienced at every level of government – and that’s the kind of leadership we need to take on Trump’s dangerous agenda and deliver real results. I am proud to support James and confident he will serve our community with integrity and distinction.”

In response, Walkinshaw reflected on their shared commitment and partnership to deliver for Fairfax:

“Speaker Filler-Corn is an historic figure in Virginia,” said Walkinshaw. “From her time as Delegate to her tenure as Speaker, I was proud to work alongside her to deliver real progress for Fairfax families. I’m honored to have her support and committed to continuing the fight against Trump’s dangerous agenda in Congress.”

Filler-Corn’s endorsement adds to the growing coalition of local, state, and federal leaders backing Walkinshaw’s campaign to deliver for Fairfax families and take on Trump’s dangerous agenda in Congress.

In just the first week, over 600 grassroots donors stepped up to power Walkinshaw’s candidacy — a clear sign of growing momentum and confidence in his leadership.
