Fairfax Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano Becomes 52nd Endorser of Walkinshaw, Calls Him VA-11’s Proven Fighter Against Trump’s Dangerous Agenda

Fairfax, VA – Today, Fairfax County and City of Fairfax Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano—who serves more than 1.1 million residents in Virginia’s largest jurisdiction—announced his endorsement of Fairfax County Supervisor James Walkinshaw (D-Braddock) for Congress, calling him the proven fighter VA-11 voters need to confront Trump’s dangerous agenda on Day One and carry on the legacy of the late Congressman Gerry Connolly.

Descano joins a diverse and energized coalition backing James Walkinshaw as the best-prepared candidate to defend democracy, expand justice, and deliver bold results for Northern Virginia.

“Fighting for fairness and justice isn’t always easy, especially in the Trump era. That’s why Fairfax needs a proven fighter to build on Congressman Connolly’s work. James Walkinshaw is that proven fighter,” said Steve Descano, Commonwealth’s Attorney for Fairfax County and the City of Fairfax. “He’s supported our work to make the justice system more fair and more equal. And when Trump’s henchmen came after him, he didn’t back down. I’m proud to endorse him for Congress.”

Throughout his time on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, Walkinshaw has stood firmly with justice reform advocates—championing efforts to advance public safety through equity, community trust, and evidence-based reform.

“I’m honored to have the support of Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano,” said Supervisor Walkinshaw. In the face of Trump’s dangerous agenda, I won’t back down. I’ll fight to protect our rights, defend our values, and continue the progress Fairfax has made.”

With 50+ endorsements from trusted local, state, and federal leaders—including the National Federation of Federal Employees representing thousands of public servants in VA-11—Walkinshaw’s campaign continues to generate momentum ahead of the Democratic Firehouse Primary on Saturday, June 28.

Additional endorsements will be announced in the days ahead.
