Fairfax, VA – Today, City of Fairfax Mayor Catherine Read, Councilmember Billy Bates and Councilmember Stacey Hardy-Chandler endorsed Fairfax County Supervisor James Walkinshaw for Congress, backing his campaign in Virginia’s 11th Congressional District and highlighting his experience and record of partnering with the City of Fairfax.
Walkinshaw also received endorsements from former Mayor David Meyer, who served as Mayor from 2017-2022, and former Councilmembers Joseph Harmon, So Lim, Tom Ross, and Janice Miller.
“The residents in this city tell me daily that their top priority is electing people to office who know what the hell they are doing,” said Mayor Read. “This is a backlash to the Trump Administration’s choice of loyalist partisans in critical roles. James Walkinshaw has a decade of experience in the halls of Congress as Rep. Connolly’s Chief of Staff. His service on the Board of Supervisors has shown us he has the knowledge, experience, and know-how to get things done. Let’s send Mr. Walkinshaw to Washington.”

These endorsements add to the early momentum behind Walkinshaw’s campaign. Within 48 hours of launching, he raised more than $300,000 from more than 400 grassroots donors across VA-11.
