Fairfax, VA – Fairfax County Supervisor James Walkinshaw, former Chief of Staff to Rep. Gerry Connolly and candidate in Virginia’s 11th Congressional District, announced today the endorsement of Congressman Gerry Connolly.
Congressman Connolly said the following about his endorsement of Supervisor Walkinshaw for his Congressional seat:
“I’m proud to endorse current Fairfax County Supervisor and my former Chief of Staff, James Walkinshaw, to represent Virginia’s 11th District in Congress. James brings unmatched experience, a depth of knowledge about federal issues, and a steadfast commitment to progressive values. When I took office in 2009, appointing him Chief of Staff was one of the best decisions I made. For more than a decade, he led our office with skill and professionalism and was by my side for the toughest fights — passing the Affordable Care Act, opposing extreme Republican policies, ending harmful government shutdowns, and standing firm against Trump’s first Administration,” said Connolly.
“This is not a moment for on-the-job training. We need a strong representative, experienced in addressing national issues that affect our community, who can stand up to Trump and lead from day one. I believe James Walkinshaw is that leader. I hope you’ll join me in supporting him,” added Connolly.
Fairfax County Supervisor Walkinshaw said the following about his endorsement by Congressman Connolly:
“Gerry Connolly is a singular figure in Fairfax. No candidate can replace him. But I’m honored and humbled that he believes me to be best prepared to take on Trump and deliver for our community in this dangerous moment.”
Congressman Connolly is an incredibly popular figure among 11th district Democratic voters, representing the area in different capacities since 1995, and winning the 2024 Democratic primary 85%-15%.
Congressman Connolly is the first in several key endorsements from federal, state, and local officials in Virginia’s 11th District that will be announced in the coming days.
